About Angela Jae Chun
Angela Jae Chun is a trial lawyer and the owner of the Law Office of Angela Jae Chun, a plaintiff’s law firm committed to providing people who have suffered injury or loss with quality and ethical legal representation. Angela provides client-focused, skilled advocacy for people against insurance companies and/or corporations. She has a multi-faceted practice representing only plaintiffs in serious personal injury, products liability, employment, maritime, and wildfire cases in both state and federal court. Angela does the work and fights hard to obtain justice for her clients.
Angela’s firm is uniquely situated. She has the skill and financial fortitude to represent individuals against major corporate defendants to trial. She also has the expertise and respect of other attorneys and law firms to collaborate when necessary on mass tort wildfire and other consumer violation cases against corporations that cause harm to more than one person.
Angela also specializes in wildfire litigation. She has represented families and businesses against utility companies for causing wildfires since 2007 in the San Diego cases against utility company SDG&E. Through the collective efforts of a team of San Diego lawyers, SDG&E paid over $500 million to compensate the families and businesses for their losses.
Angela is currently Of Counsel (wildfire litigation counsel) at Casey Gerry Schenk Francavilla Blatt & Penfield, LLP - San Diego’s most established plaintiff’s law firm founded in 1972. Angela and Casey Gerry, jointly with two other firms (Tosdal Law Firm and Michael Feinberg, APC), currently represent nearly 1,000 PG&E wildfire victims who lost their loved ones, homes, and businesses in the 2017 North Bay and 2018 Camp fires due to the negligence of PG&E. Angela also currently represents individuals and businesses affected by the recent Dixie fire caused by PG&E.
Prior to starting her own law firm in 2020, Angela worked for two top plaintiff’s law firms in San Diego. Angela was an associate attorney at CaseyGerry for 7 years and obtained multiple six and seven-figure results for her clients at trial or by settlement before trial. Most notably while there, she obtained a seven-figure verdict by bench trial in federal court representing a motorcyclist who was severely injured in a crash caused by the U.S. Border Patrol.
Angela also gained valuable trial and complex litigation experience working at Tosdal, Smith, Steiner & Wax (TSSW), a prominent plaintiff’s employment and personal injury law firm. During that time, Chun tried five jury trials in both state and federal court representing individuals, teachers, and sheriffs in employment and personal injury cases. Angela also worked on complex state wage and hour class actions at TSSW, representing shipyard workers and linen truck drivers. All these cases were class certified and resulted in seven-figure awards.
Born and raised in Central California, Angela is the daughter of South Korean immigrants who moved to the United States in pursuit of the American dream in 1975. She is a proud second-generation Korean-American who learned the true meaning of hard work from her parents. Angela always knew she was going to be a lawyer. She graduated from UC San Diego in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and an emphasis in Public Law and a minor in Law and Society. She earned her law degree from California Western School of Law in 2006.
Angela is most proud of her family. Her biggest accomplishment is marrying her husband and best friend, Philip, who she met at UC San Diego. A true American hero, Philip has served over 20 years in the US Army and is currently a firefighter. Together, they happily raise their two young daughters, Ellie and Mia, and their dog, Margo. In her spare time, Angela enjoys yoga, boot camp, step aerobics, walking 10,000 steps a day, and dancing with her Ajumma EXP sisters.
